<div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:tahoma;"><strong>سابقه و هدف:</strong> فاوانیا گیاهی از تیرۀ دو لپه­ای­های جدا گلبرگ که تیرۀ خاصی به نام تیرۀ فاوانیا را پدید می­آورد و جزو تیره­های نزدیک به گل­سرخیان است؛ گیاهی است علفی و دارای ساقه­های گوشت­دار و ساقه­ای خوابیده بر روی زمین و گل­هایی معمولا سفید یا زرد. در حدود ۱۳۰ نوع از این گیاه شناخته شده که اکثر در مناطق معتدل می­رویند. در طب سنّتی با نام­هایی نظیر نارمشک، عودالریح، حجرالذئب، خرچکوک، شیرزا، ابوزیدان، ورد الحمیر، رمان مصری، وردالحمار و عود صلیب از آن یاد شده است که در این میان، «عود الصلیب» پربسامدترین نام است که در منابع طب سنتی برای درمان بسیاری بیماری­ها و بیشتر برای درمان بیماریی مربوط به کودکان به نام امّ صبیان به کار رفته است. هدف این پژوهش، مرور و بررسی مطالب مربوط به این گیاه و خواص دارویی آن در متون طبی و نیز ادبی مورد است تا اثرات و چگونگی به کارگیری آن در طب سنتی و پزشکی نوین معرفی گردد.<br>
<strong>مواد و روش­ها:</strong> تحقیق حاضر از نوع مروریست و مطالب مربوط از طریق جست­وجوی کتابخانه­ای در منابع اصلی طب سنتی و نیز متون مطرح ادبی که در آنها به این گیاه پرداخته شده، فراهم و با منابع رایج حاضر، انطباق داده شده است. و بررسی شد که آیا امکان کار بست فرآوردههای این گیاه برای درمان بیماریها وجود دارد یا خیر.<br>
<strong>یافته­ها: </strong>در گذشته، به طور کلی دو گونه خاصیت برای این گیاه قائل بودند؛ ۱. درمانگری به مانند عموم گیاهان دارویی. ۲. درمانگری متافیزیکی و ماورایی بیماری­ها با باور داشتن به خواص جادویی در گیاه مذکور. و در منابع نیز موید این اهمیت است که فاوانیا تاثیر مثبت روی تشنج، صرع، تسهیل زایمان و ... میباشد.<br>
<strong>نتیجه­گیری:</strong> به نظر می­رسد که منابع سنتی و جدید در زمینۀ درمانی فاوانیا بسیار به هم نزدیک هستند؛ از این رو، می­توان چنین استنتاج کرد که با بررسی دقیق متون کهن و همراه ساختن دستاوردهای آنها با منابع جدید دربارۀ این گیاه می­توان فراورده­های دارویی موثری برای بسیاری بیماری­ها فراهم نمود.</span></span></div>
<strong>Background and Purpose:</strong> As a type of choripetalae in dictyledons, favania belongs to a species called favania which is closest to rosaceae. It is a grass with fleshy stems lying on the ground and white or yellow flowers. Nearly 130 types of this plant, which often grow in moderate zones, have already been detected. In traditional medicine, the plant has been termed narmashk, oodo-l-reih, hajaro-l-zaib, xarchakuk, shirza, abuzeidan, vardolhamir, roman-e mesri, vardolhemar, and ood-e salib, of which ood-e salib is the most frequent one. According to the studies in traditional medicine, favania is useful in treating a number of diseases, particularly children diseases (also called om-e sebian). The present research aims at reviewing the studies related to this plant and examining its medicinal properties in medical and literary texts in order to realize when and how to apply it in traditional and modern medicines.<br>
<strong>Methods and Materials:</strong> The study represents a library research for which the data was collected from original resources in literature and traditional medicine and was compared with the present resources to detect if the products of this plant can be potentially used in treating diseases.<br>
<strong>Conclusion: </strong> It seems that traditional and new studies support each other and confirm that careful analysis of the past studies and complementing their findings with recent developments will lead to useful medicinal products for treating many diseases.<br>
<strong>Results:</strong> In the past, favania was characterized by two general properties: (1) as a normal treatment similar to other medicinal plants and (2) as a metaphysical and supernatural treatment as a result of perceived magical powers. Moreover, the studies have revealed that favania is useful for treating convulsion and epilepsy and for easing parturition, among other properties.<br>
