Onnāb/Annāb

Onnāb/Annāb is the fruit of shrub reaching a height of up to 10 meter with thorny branches. The ripe fruit is spherical to oval, red or deep brown with sweet taste and a single oval and sharp stone seed. The fruits ripen in summer to early autumn. In Iranian traditional medicine, it is used as blood purifier and respiratory soothing agent. Characteristics mentioned for Onnāb/Annāb in Iranian traditional medicine is corresponding to Ziziphus jujuba Miller.
